Keto Naan Bread

Posted on September 26, 2023

Keto naan bread is a low-carb, gluten-free alternative to traditional naan bread that’s suitable for those following a ketogenic or low-carb diet. Here’s a recipe for making keto naan bread:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons coconut flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened Greek yogurt (or coconut yogurt for a dairy-free option)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter (or coconut oil), and Greek yogurt (or coconut yogurt).
  4. Combine and Knead: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. You can use a spatula or your hands to knead the dough until it’s smooth and well combined.
  5. Divide the Dough: Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  6. Flatten the Dough: Place a ball of dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to flatten it into a naan bread shape, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. You can make them round or oval, as you prefer.
  7. Bake: Transfer the flattened dough (still between the parchment paper) to a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the naan bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Optional: Broil for Crisping (Optional): If you want a crisper top, you can turn on the broiler for the last 1-2 minutes of baking. Keep a close eye on it to avoid burning.
  9. Serve: Remove the keto naan bread from the oven, let it cool slightly, then serve it warm. It’s delicious as a side with curries or other dishes, or you can use it as a wrap for keto-friendly sandwiches.

Enjoy your keto naan bread as a tasty and low-carb alternative to traditional naan!
