Double Chocolate Coca-Cola Cake is a decadent and moist chocolate cake that’s made with Coca-Cola soda, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips. Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup Coca-Cola (do not use diet)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 6 tablespoons Coca-Cola
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions:

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the Coca-Cola, buttermilk, butter, and cocoa powder. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture is well combined. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  4. Pour the Coca-Cola mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  5. In a separate small bowl, beat the eggs with the vanilla extract, and then add them to the cake batter. Mix until the batter is smooth and the eggs are fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

For the Frosting:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa powder, and Coca-Cola. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until the frosting is smooth.
  3. If you like, stir in the chopped pecans.
  4. While the cake is still warm, pour the frosting over it, spreading it evenly.
  5. Allow the cake to cool and the frosting to set before serving.
